“They put me back together – literally,” said Lana Feldmeier. After surviving a direct hit to her home by a tornado on March 14, Lana was rushed to the emergency room at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. A massive tree had crashed through her bedroom, landing directly on top of her and severing her right ear. With broken ribs, a fractured collarbone, and nerve damage in her arm, Lana’s condition was critical.
Despite the chaos of that day, Lana vividly remembers what happened next: compassion, professionalism, and exceptional care. “I was stuck between my bed and a tree. When nearby neighbors finally got me out, an ambulance couldn’t get through, so they drove me to the ER in the back of a pickup truck. Mike Miller
In the Fall of 2023, Mike Miller experienced a heart attack, an event that took him by surprise. He was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center's ER, where the medical team took prompt action. Roland Njoh, M.D., interventional cardiologist and member of the medical staff of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, placed a stent, and Miller was discharged the next day, feeling "grateful that everything had gone smoothly."
A year later, Mike started having some discomfort and soon learned he had a 75% blockage in his carotid artery. Hector Dox, M.D., a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon and member of the medical staff of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, performed a carotid endarterectomy to address the blockage.
Mike spent the night in the ICU, where he "was attended to by three nurses who provided care." Mike added, "They were all incredibly attentive, leaving me with no complaints. One of the nurses, Brett, even shared a firecracker sauce recipe with me, and I've been using it ever since!" Read the full story here.
Tonya and Wayne Burress
In a heartfelt testimony, Tonya Burress of Wayne County shares her harrowing experience of her husband's sudden medical emergency and the exceptional care provided by Clearwater Ambulance District and Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
The exceptional care provided by the emergency responders, the ER staff, cath lab and critical care team at PBRMC did not go unnoticed by the Burresses. "We are so thankful for everyone involved; they are heroes who saved my husband's life," Tonya added.

Dee Dee Vance
"I couldn't stand to make my cup of coffee and that's when I knew I had to seek help." Dee Dee Vance, a retired Butler County hairdresser for more than 40 years, knew something wasn't right when she woke up on August 7, 2023.
A week before the heart attack, Vance was experiencing shortness of breath, overwhelming fatigue and discomfort in chest. "I brushed it off, but now I will always take these signs seriously and go straight to Poplar Bluff Regional!"

April Eskew
In the midst of a health crisis, April Eskew found herself in the hands of Hector Dox, M.D., cardiothoracic surgeon and member of the medical staff at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, whose experience and compassion guided her through a challenging ordeal.
What appeared to be a case of the flu quickly escalated into pneumonia, leading to April's admission to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center via ambulance. The infection was severe, forming a pus-filled sac behind a lung that demanded immediate attention.

Laren Christian
Laren Christian, a Mississippi man visiting family in Ripley County, MO, was hunting when things took a turn. An accident led Christian straight to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center's emergency room.
What initially appeared to be a routine injury escalated into a severe hematoma resulting from a ruptured blood vessel.
