PBRMC Recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month
10/6/2026
POPLAR BLUFF, MO – Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) is recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October by raising awareness about prevention, early detection and the importance of recommended breast cancer screenings.
Throughout the month, PBRMC will illuminate the hospital in pink to honor patients, survivors, caregivers and families affected by breast cancer and other cancers. The display serves as a reminder that cancer care, support and education are available close to home.
“Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an important opportunity to encourage individuals to take charge of their health,” said Amy Pennington, FNP, a Regional Physician Services primary care provider. “We hope the pink lighting at PBRMC reminds our community of the importance of prevention, early detection and supporting those facing cancer.”
PBRMC encourages individuals to talk with their primary care provider about their personal risk factors and recommended screening schedule. Bluff Imaging & Women’s Center provide breast imaging and diagnostic services, whereas the Danny Bell Cancer Center provides a variety of treatment and support resources for cancer patients throughout the region.
PBRMC will also sell UCAN Pink Out shirts throughout October, with all proceeds benefiting the United Cancer Assistance Network (UCAN). UCAN is a local nonprofit that helps ease the burden of a cancer diagnosis by providing individualized support for area patients. Shirts will be available outside the PBRMC Violet Patch Gift shop (lower level) for $20. Community members are encouraged to wear their shirts throughout October in support of local patients, survivors and families affected by cancer.
Additionally, PBRMC invites the community to attend its October Health Seminar, Beyond The Pink: Cancer Prevention & Early Detection for Everyone on Friday, October 23, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Poplar Bluff Ballroom, 2781 N. Westwood Blvd. The free event will include a panel discussion, opportunities to ask questions, on-site appointment scheduling and lunch. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
