Celebrating 100 Years of Caring for Our Community
A Century of Healing, A Future of Hope
Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center proudly celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2025, a milestone that reflects a century of unwavering commitment to compassionate care, medical innovation and service to the communities we call home.
Since opening our doors in 1925, we have grown alongside our region, advancing our facilities, technologies, and specialties to meet the evolving needs of generations. While much has changed in medicine over the past century, our mission has remained constant: to provide safe, high-quality care close to home.
Centennial Year Highlights
Throughout 2025, we’ve honored our 100-year journey with a series of events designed to reflect our legacy and look forward to the future of healthcare.
- Centennial Reunion: PBRMC welcomed past, present and future PBRMC employees to tour our facilities, learn about our rich history through a photo timeline and historical displays, and reconnect with each other.
- 100 Mile Challenge: PBRMC challenged our employees and community members to walk 100 miles between April 1 to June 30 in honor of 100 years. Internally, employees who reach 100 miles received 100 bucketlist points (internal employee recognition program).
- 100 Acts of Kindness Campaign: PBRMC employees participated in a project dedicated to acts of kindness through community outreach efforts, including blood drives, food pantry donations, volunteering and random acts of service.
- Historical Feature Series: Through PBRMC social media channels and newsletters, we shared stories from past and present employees, photos from our archives and milestones that have shaped Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center into what it is today.
- Employee Awards Banquet: The 2025 banquet celebrated not only outstanding service but also the spirit of teamwork that has carried PBRMC through every era.
Voices from the Past and Present
What has made these 100 years truly remarkable is the people—our patients, staff, physicians and community partners. As part of our celebration, we gathered stories and testimonials from those who have walked our halls, received care at PBRMC or spent their careers serving others.
"I knew I always wanted to work at the hospital that saved my life,"
– Dodson C. Pharm.D.
“I knew I wanted to be back in a hands-on role. Coming to PBRMC, it just felt like the right fit—it’s always been part of my professional life in one way or another…altogether, my family has more than 35 years of combined service at the hospital!”
– Kim S., MSN, R.N.
These reflections serve as reminders of the impact we have made over the last century and the trust our community continues to place in us.
Looking Ahead
PBRMC’s centennial is not just a celebration of the past—it’s a promise for the future. With ongoing investments in technology, advanced care teams and community partnerships, we remain focused on building a healthier tomorrow.
Thank you for being a part of our story—for 100 years and counting.
