Patient Support
At Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, we believe supporting our patients is an important part of our care. Cancer treatment often involves numerous specialists, procedures and therapies, and can often be overwhelming. That’s why our cancer care encompasses a range of support services that address everything from education and care management assistance, to support groups and spiritual care.
We offer a variety of services to assist you throughout your care, including:
- United Cancer Assistance Network (UCAN) – UCAN is designed to provide individualized support for area cancer patients. Their mission is to help ease some of the burdens brought about in the wake of a cancer diagnosis, thereby enhancing the quality of life experienced by local cancer patients. The UCAN office is located at the Danny Bell Cancer Center to offer patients easy access to UCAN’s resources.
- Transportation assistance – Getting to and from cancer treatments and appointments can be a challenge, so we offer transportation assistance to make it a little easier on patients and their loved ones.
- American Cancer Society – The Danny Bell Cancer Center works with the American Cancer Society to allow patients and their families to take advantage of the resources offered by ACS, including ‘Look Good, Feel Better’ Classes. See our Classes and Programs page for more details.
- Cancer education resources – We offer a wide range of educational resources to help patients and family members learn more about cancer, treatment and recovery. A resource room is available for patients and their families in the UCAN office, located at the Danny Bell Cancer Center.
- Nutritional counseling – Eating the right kinds of foods before, during and after treatment can help you feel better and stay stronger. Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center’s registered dietitians can help you incorporate proper nutrition to regain strength, rebuild tissue and feel better overall.
- Spiritual support – Chaplains are available to provide compassionate spiritual and emotional support to you and your family.
