Lymphedema Therapy
Lymphedema can affect all parts of the body, but most often found in the limbs. Swelling is the most common sign; however this does not always appear immediately and may develop gradually due to a continuous overload of lymph vessels. The leading causes of lymphedema include mosquito bites, cancers, burns, or other traumatic injuries.
Lymphedema therapies are designed to move fluid from the tissue and promote normal functioning of the lymph system and help alleviate fluid blockage. Patients are treated with manual lymph drainage, compression garments, skin care, exercise programs, and are taught self-care education to promote a better quality of life.
