Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Names Carla Rider, DNP, Chief Nursing Officer

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (January 11, 2024) – Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center has named Missouri native Carla Rider DNP, MSN, MBA, RNC-LRN, as chief nursing officer, effective January 8. Rider joins the hospital from Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas, where she has been serving as the associate chief nursing officer.
“We are fortunate to have Carla join our team. She brings many years of nursing experience and a demonstrated track record of improving quality outcomes.” CEO Clyde Wood said. “Carla is a patient-first leader who will develop her teams to accomplish quality outcomes while supporting all PBRMC staff, clinical providers and physicians to continue to grow and guide the communities we serve."
Rider has 30 years of experience in nursing, nurse leadership positions in women’s and children’s nursing and hospital systems. During this time, she has developed and implemented a number of protocols and initiatives that have resulted in improved patient outcomes and enhanced staff development for which she received various awards. Some of these honors include the Employer Award from the Department of Defense, National Association of Neonatal Nursing Leadership Award, and Early Elective Delivery Improvement and Exclusive Breastfeeding Improvement Award. With an overwhelming desire to improve maternal and infant mortality, Carla has participated on many committees and boards focused on improving access and quality in maternal and neonatal healthcare.
“As chief nursing officer, I want to ensure we meet the hospital’s mission of helping people get well and live healthier by providing safe, quality care,” Rider said. “The community is our family. We do not see a patient in a hospital bed; we see our family. It is our goal to provide compassionate connected care for our community and for each other as we work toward our common goals".
Carla earned her undergraduate degree in nursing from Texas Women’s University in Denton/Dallas. She also holds a master’s in nursing degree from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky, and an MBA from the University of Phoenix in Dallas, Texas and obtained a doctorate in nursing practice from the University of South Alabama.
Rider is originally from Missouri and is looking forward to returning closer to home.
