Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Honors DAISY Award Winners During Nurses & Hospital Week

POPLAR BLUFF, MO, May 15, 2026 — During National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week, Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center honored DAISY Award winners for the compassionate care, teamwork, and leadership they bring to patients, families, and colleagues every day.
The honorees were recognized for the exceptional care they provided to patients and for the leadership, teamwork, and kindness they brought to their units every day. The nominations described caregivers who offered calm reassurance during difficult moments, treated patients with dignity and respect, and consistently went above and beyond to support both families and care teams.
Nurse Leader Kelly Boxx, BSN, RN, was nominated for her leadership across multiple high-acuity specialty service lines and for fostering a culture of quality, teamwork, accountability, and patient-centered care. Her nomination noted that she helped strengthen collaboration and operational performance while creating an environment grounded in respect, reliability, and excellence.
Nursing student Ryanna Martin was honored for her knowledge, flexibility, and patient-first approach as a nurse extern. Her nomination highlighted her positive attitude, willingness to step into multiple roles across the hospital, and ability to connect with patients and support the care team with grace and enthusiasm.
The 6th Floor nursing team was recognized for its outstanding teamwork and compassionate care. The nomination described the RN, techs, and CNAs as amazing partners who treated a cancer patient with dignity, compassion, and respect during a difficult hospitalization. The nomination also praised the team’s seamless coordination, patience, and commitment to keeping the family informed and supported throughout the stay.
“The DAISY Award is such a meaningful way to recognize the incredible compassion and professionalism our nurses and nursing team members show every day,” said Heather Chasteen,RN, Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at PBRMC. “During Nurses Week, it is especially important to celebrate individuals who not only provide excellent clinical care, but also bring comfort, kindness, and humanity to every patient and family they serve. We are incredibly proud of this year’s honorees.”
The DAISY Award is an international recognition program created to honor the extraordinary compassion nurses provide every day. PBRMC is proud to celebrate these honorees during special celebratory weeks to recognize the difference they make for patients, families, and colleagues.

The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes to thank nurses for the compassionate care they provided during his illness. The award honors nurses who make a meaningful difference through skill, kindness, and dedication.
