Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Celebrates Heart Month with Community Events & Awareness Initiatives
2/3/2026
POPLAR BLUFF, MO – Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) is proud to announce a series of heart-focused events and community engagement opportunities throughout February in honor of American Heart Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease, promoting cardiovascular health, and supporting life-saving research and education. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, reinforcing the importance of education and prevention for all ages.
“As we observe Heart Month, we are inspired to bring heart health to the forefront of our community’s attention,” said Clyde Wood, CEO of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. “Whether through conversations, expert insights, or community activities, our goal is to empower individuals and families to take meaningful steps toward a healthier life.”
PBRMC’s cardiac team continues to make a significant impact in the region. Over the past year, the hospital’s cardiac catheterization lab completed more than 3,000 procedures, including more than 280 heart cases that required an intervention. Additionally, the cath lab team treated over 50 STEMI cases, the most severe type of heart attack requiring immediate, life-saving care. These numbers reflect PBRMC’s commitment to providing timely, advanced cardiovascular care when minutes matter most.
Heart Month Highlights
Heart to Heart: Coffee & Conversations for Women | February 6
PBRMC invites women in the community to Heart to Heart: Coffee & Conversations for Women on Friday, Feb. 6 from 9 am to 10 am. at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Oak Grove Classroom. This informal, women-only gathering offers an opportunity to enjoy coffee and light snacks while engaging in open, meaningful discussion about heart health, including risks unique to women, prevention strategies, and recognizing symptoms that should not be ignored. The event, led by Leona Bergen, ACNP, is designed as a welcoming, judgment-free space for women to ask questions, share concerns, and learn from one another. This event also coincides with National Wear Red for Women Day; participants are encouraged to wear red in support of raising awareness about women’s cardiovascular health.
Heart Health Seminar | February 20
On Friday, Feb. 20, PBRMC will host a Heart Health Seminar featuring an expert panel of cardiovascular experts who will discuss heart disease prevention, the latest treatments, and answer questions from attendees. Free health screenings and educational resources will be available. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Ballroom in Poplar Bluff from 12 pm - 1 pm. Registration is encouraged; call 573-776-9356 for details.
