PBRMC ER and Critical Care Nurses Honored with Daisy Award
9/29/2025
POPLAR BLUFF, MO – Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) recently honored two ER nurses with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.
Michael Finley, R.N., and James “Eddie” Hartline, R.N., were both nominated from a myriad of submissions.
One submitted recognition of Hartline read, “Eddie is such a sweetheart. When my husband was admitted to PBRMC, Eddie took great care of my husband but also made sure I was as comfortable there as I could be. He was then my mother’s nurse when she was in the ER. It was a blessing to have him take care of the people I hold near and dear to my heart."
While another submitted recognition for Finley read, “I have been in and out of the hospital for a month or more. First, my dad here in this hospital, then me at Barnes, now my wife. Then I had my surgery for kidney cancer, and now my wife is. Mike was not my wife's nurse, but he stepped up when her RN was too busy to help her. The ER had a lot going on that day, and now we are back. I would like it to be heard that Mike did not step back, but he stepped up for me and my family.”
Finley has been working at PBRMC for 19 years, where the majority of his time has been spent in the emergency department. Hartline has been with PBRMC for two years, working throughout the hospital with a focus on ER and critical care.
With a focus on emergency and critical care, Finley and Hartline provide care, support, and guidance to patients throughout some of the most challenging and vulnerable moments of their health journey.
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), a little-known but not uncommon autoimmune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and their families.
"We are so proud to recognize Michael and Eddie as two outstanding nurses with the DAISY Award. Their compassion, skill, and commitment to patient care truly exemplify what nursing is all about. Whether in the fast-paced environment of the emergency department or providing vital support across the float pool and critical care units, they consistently go above and beyond for their patients, their families, and their colleagues,” said Carla Rider, chief nursing officer.
