Urology Services Return to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center After Four-Year Absence
9/9/2026
POPLAR BLUFF, MO – After a four-year absence, urology services are returning to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, giving patients throughout Southeast Missouri renewed access to specialized urologic care close to home.
Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center welcomes Anuj Chopra, M.D., and Kris Carlson, M.D., to its medical staff as the hospital reestablishes its urology service line.
The return of urology services expands access to specialty care in the region and gives both adult and children patients the opportunity to receive evaluation and treatment for a wide range of urologic conditions without having to travel outside the area for care.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Chopra and Dr. Carlson and bring urology services back to Poplar Bluff,” said Clyde Wood, CEO of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. “Our goal is always to make quality health care as accessible as possible to the communities we serve. Bringing this specialty back means patients can receive more of the care they need right here at home, closer to their families, support systems and the community they call home.”
Urologists diagnose and treat conditions affecting the urinary tract and reproductive system in men and women. Patients may seek urologic care for concerns including kidney stones, urinary problems, bladder conditions, prostate conditions, urinary incontinence and other urologic disorders.
Dr. Chopra and Dr. Carlson will provide urologic evaluation and treatment, including surgical care when appropriate.
“Bringing urology back to Poplar Bluff is about making specialty care more accessible to the people who live here and in the surrounding communities,” said Wood. “Patients should have access to high-quality specialty care without always having to travel long distances. We are proud to welcome Dr. Chopra and Dr. Carlson and offer this important service locally again.”
The addition of urology services is part of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center’s ongoing commitment to expanding specialty care and providing patients across Southeast Missouri with more opportunities to receive the care they need close to home.
