The Three P’s of Longevity: Anita Hill’s Prescription for a Life Well-Lived
8/21/2025

POPLAR BLUFF, MO, August 20, 2025 – Anita Hill, age 64, believes living a long and healthy life comes down to what she calls the “Three P’s” — People, Purpose, and Plans.
For Anita, People means maintaining strong connections with family and friends and prioritizing real, in-person interactions to stay socially and emotionally healthy.
Purpose involves staying physically active and engaged. Anita rides her cardio bike for five miles each morning and evening, completes 40 wall push-ups twice a day, takes the longest walking routes possible, and walks briskly for optimal cardiac health. She also challenges her mind through continued learning, staying current with technology, and engaging in activities like quiz shows that promote mental sharpness.
Plans are about always having something to work toward. Anita keeps a detailed calendar, makes lists, and sets actionable steps for both short-term and long-term goals. In retirement, she uses a vision board with branches for health, family, and friends to guide her priorities.
Anita spent 40 years working in healthcare, serving in multiple roles, including certified nursing assistant, EMT, paramedic, dispatcher, EMS director, ER paramedic tech, stress lab technician, marketing coordinator, HR assistant, and clinic greeter. She now volunteers at the hospital. Through her career, she credits adaptability and what she calls “practical optimism” — the ability to see challenges while believing in solutions — as essential to her longevity.
She emphasizes prevention, including regular screenings, following physicians’ recommendations, taking prescribed medications, and incorporating supplements such as fish oil and multivitamins. She maintains healthy eating habits, practices portion control, allows occasional treats, prioritizes adequate sleep, and aims for 12,000 steps each day.
Anita’s approach reflects her belief that longevity is built on consistent, proactive choices — and that the Three P’s can serve as a valuable guide for living well at any age.
