Fourth Annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive Will Support SEMO Food Bank

POPLAR BLUFF, MO – Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center is working to fight hunger in the community by collecting peanut butter to donate to SEMO Food Bank. The fourth annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive starts on March 1st and will continue through March 30th. Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) collects peanut butter because it is one of the least donated items even though it is high in nutritional value and is shelf stable.
“Every year, PBRMC makes it a priority to give back to our community, and Jars of Love is one of our favorite ways to show that we care,” said Clyde Wood, CEO. “In our community, an estimated 1 in 6 residents experience hunger and don’t have access to enough food, which can contribute to poor health. SEMO Food Bank is working to address hunger in our area and we are proud to support their efforts, one jar of peanut butter at a time.”
This year, PBRMC has a goal to collect 3K jars of peanut butter and other nut butters for SEMO Food Bank. Everyone is welcome to donate peanut butter or other nut butters (plastic jars only) at PBRMC’s main campus at 3100 Oak Grove Road. SEMO Food Bank collection bins will be available in the front lobby, Oak Grove Grille (cafeteria), and Regional Physician Services front entrance.
“Peanut butter is one of the most requested items we distribute because it’s packed with protein and can stay on the shelf for months,” said Joey Keys, president & CEO of Southeast Missouri Food Bank. “We’re incredibly grateful to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for hosting its peanut butter drive for the fourth year in a row. Their continued dedication to the fight against hunger makes such a difference for families across our region. We’re thankful for their ongoing partnership and commitment to helping ensure our neighbors have access to the food they need.”
