Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Hosts Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive to Fight Hunger
2/27/2024
POPLAR BLUFF, MO, February 26, 2024 – Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center invites community members to join the hospital’s efforts to fight hunger by participating in the second annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive benefitting SEMO Food Bank. Peanut butter is a sought-after item for food banks because of its high nutritional value and long shelf life. Yet, it is one of the least donated items. The Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive kicks off on Monday, March 4, and will run through Monday, March 25.
“We recognize the impact hunger has on an individual’s health and well-being, and we want to help those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity,” said Clyde Wood, CEO. “An estimated 1 in 7 people in Southeast Missouri face food insecurity. Our Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive is a great way to partner with community members to reduce hunger in our area.”
Everyone is welcome to donate peanut butter or other nut butters (plastic jars only) at PBRMC’s main campus at 3100 Oak Grove Road. SEMO Food Bank collection bins will be available in the front lobby, Oak Grove Grille (cafeteria), and Regional Physician Services front entrance.
“Peanut butter is such a great staple item because of its nutritional value and long shelf life,” said Joey Keys, CEO of Southeast Missouri Food Bank. “We’re excited Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center is holding its peanut butter drive again this year. I’m sure it will succeed and benefit many of our neighbors facing hunger. We appreciate PBRMC for its support and fighting hunger in its community.”
Last year, PBRMC donated 9,500+ jars of peanut butter to SEMO Food Bank with a goal of 10K this year.
