POPLAR BLUFF, MO – Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) is proud to recognize the incredible work of its volunteers as part of National Healthcare Volunteer Week. Each year in April, we pause together to thank these volunteers for their compassion and dedication. This year, National Healthcare Volunteer Week will be celebrated the week of April 17 in hospitals across the country.
PBRMC volunteers are members of our community – our mothers and fathers and grandparents and retired caregivers - who give freely of their time and talents and are a vital part of our patient care team.
Nancy Francis, a volunteer with PBRMC for nearly four years, said her favorite thing about volunteering is “being surrounded by a wonderful group of fellow volunteers, along with talking and listening to the customers as they visit the gift shop. We all work hard to make everyone feel welcomed at the hospital!”
In 2022, our volunteers have donated nearly five thousand hours supporting our hospital system in areas such as information desks, registration and surgery waiting rooms, providing scholarships through the Auxiliary gift shop and numerous other services. In fact, many of the volunteers have donated their time for several years with one volunteer reaching more than 11,000 cumulative hours this past year.
“Each day we are incredibly grateful for our volunteers and the way they selflessly serve patients, family members and care team members across PBRMC. During National Healthcare Volunteer Week, we are especially proud to honor and celebrate their amazing achievements and passion for service to our community,” said CEO Rick Naegler. “Their example of servant leadership is invaluable.”
