PBRMC Board of Trustees Honors Staff for Selflessness During the Pandemic
7/25/2022
On Thursday, July 21, Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center’s Board of Trustees recognized the hospital’s dedicated and selfless employees for their perseverance and service to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Board Chairman Phil Santie, member John Blaich, M.D., and CEO Rick Naegler unveiled a plaque that reads, “We will never forget your many hours of hard work and dedication, going above and beyond in selfless service and sacrifice to provide care during the COVID-19 pandemic.“
PBRMC has supported more than 1,200 COVID inpatients since March 2020 while sustaining all of its other medical services. To help protect the community from the COVID-19 virus, PBRMC gave more than 1,400 vaccine doses, and more than 22,000 patients were screened. Additionally, more than 1,100 outpatients were treated with monoclonal antibodies, helping them avoid serious symptoms and hospitalization. Our Westwood campus was one of just six state-designated areas to receive the monoclonal antibodies for Missouri.
Since February 2020, there have been more than 700 COVID patient survivors leaving through PBRMC’s door and back to their homes and families.
“As other hospitals shut their doors, PBRMC kept their doors open to serve the community throughout the pandemic,” Santie said. “You accepted patients from surrounding regions and states to ensure care was provided throughout a very challenging time.”
“We are immensely proud of our hospital and all of you who have done a tremendous job caring for our patients, supporting each other, and navigating the unforeseen challenges of a global pandemic,” Santie added. “Thank you again to all of the healthcare employees, especially those who played a pivotal role during this pandemic.”
Clinical and non-clinical staff from all PBRMC departments were present for the presentation and enjoyed cake provided by the Board of Trustees following the ceremony.
