Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Surpasses 2,600 Robotic-Assisted Surgeries, Enhancing Patient Outcomes

POPLAR BLUFF, MO, April 8, 2025 – Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) has marked a significant milestone in the advancement of surgical care, exceeding 2,600 robotic-assisted procedures. The less invasive robotic-assisted surgical system enables surgeons to perform complex procedures with enhanced precision and typically offers additional benefits over traditional surgery, such as quicker recovery, reduced blood loss, and less scarring.

“The growth of our robotic-assisted surgery program has transformed surgical care in Southeast Missouri,” said Clyde Wood, CEO. “Thanks to the dedication of the skilled surgical team, more patients have access to robotic procedures that often help them get back to their lives faster and with greater satisfaction.”

The robotic surgical team at PBRMC has expanded to include six surgeons specializing in General Surgery and Gynecology, such as gall bladder procedures and hernia repairs. These skilled professionals utilize robotic technology to enhance visibility, control and access to the surgical site. Robotic-assisted procedures use advanced instrumentation with 360-degree rotation and enhanced tremor control, allowing meticulous movements surpassing human hand capabilities, as well as 3D imaging to improve clarity.
