POPLAR BLUFF, MO – Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) is pleased to announce Steve Nelson, PT, MBA, as the new chief operations officer (COO), effective Monday, February 7.
“Steve brings many years of operation experience and a demonstrated track record of improving operations, growing services, building teams and creating a high level of patient satisfaction.” CEO Rick Naegler said. “Steve is a patient-first leader that will develop his teams to accomplish quality outcomes while supporting all PBRMC staff and physicians to continue to grow and guide the communities we serve.”

“The opportunity to work at a great hospital in an area similar to my hometown and be part of its continuing success and growth is an exciting opportunity I want to be a part of,” Nelson said. “My wife and I are looking forward to this next chapter in our lives and to meeting more of the great people in Southeast Missouri.”
Active in his community, Nelson had served for the Lake City District 3 school board for 19 years, in addition to being part of the Columbia County School Board, Florida School Board Association, and the Gateway College Allied Health Advisory Board. Nelson has also been active in several organizations, including March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, Kiwanis Club, American Physical Therapy Association, and as coach for the Columbia Youth Soccer Association and Columbia Girls Softball Association.
Nelson will be living in Poplar Bluff with his wife, Tassie. They have three children and one grandson. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, woodworking and grilling.
