PBRMC L&D Nurse Honored with Daisy Award
4/30/2025
POPLAR BLUFF, MO, April 30, 2025 – Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) Labor and Delivery Nurse, Jessica Morey, R.N., was recently honored with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.
The nomination submitted in recognition of Morey read, “We arrived at the hospital at 8 a.m. for an induction, and it turned into a long day with very little progress. Jessica worked the night shift and made everything so much better. She did everything she could to help me manage my pain and ensure both my baby and I felt safe, all while encouraging my labor to progress. Anytime I needed something or it was time for a check, Jessica was right there. She was an incredible support and advocate, helping ease my worries throughout the experience. It was clear she takes great pride in her work and truly cares for each of her patients. Although the floor was busy that night, you would never have known it from Jessica’s calm and compassionate demeanor. She was so kind and patient—without a doubt, the best nurse I have ever had.”
Morey has been a registered nurse for 13 years, with a focus on labor and delivery nursing for the past four years. She provides care, support, and guidance to patients throughout the childbirth process, from early labor through delivery and the immediate postpartum period.
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
"Jessica’s dedication, compassion, and clinical excellence embody the very best of our Labor and Delivery team. Winning the DAISY Award is a true testament to the profound impact she has on our patients, their families, and our community. We are so proud to celebrate her well-deserved recognition,” said Carla Rider, Chief Nursing Officer.
