Pink Out with Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center During Breast Cancer Awareness Month
9/29/2022
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) is dedicated in creating awareness and education about breast cancer. Breast cancer affects so many lives each year, and “it is our duty as the primary resource for healthcare here in Poplar Bluff to ensure we bring the very best education and awareness to this,” said CEO Rick Naegler.
PBRMC healthcare staff make it their mission, not only today but every day, to fight one of the deadliest cancers facing women. In Missouri, there have been nearly 6,000 new breast cancer cases this year.
“With many different disease processes, early detection through effective screenings, and annual wellness visits with your provider are essential to improve outcomes and quality of life,” added Naegler. “Access to treatment and communication along the journey are part of caring for our community as our extended family. I am honored to have such an expert panel of providers and clinical staff to live our mission of getting people well and living healthier lives.”
To help bring awareness and provide education about breast cancer awareness, PBRMC is hosting and attending events throughout the month of October. Events include:
- Friday, Sept. 30, PBRMC will have a booth at the Poplar Bluff High School “Pink Out” game with information and goodies to share.
- Friday, Oct. 7, PBRMC is hosting First Friday Coffee, part of the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce business events. We’ll be giving our “pink bags” full of information goodies.
- Friday, Oct. 14, will be our PINKtober Lunch & Learn at the Westwood Event Center from 12 to 1 p.m. Join our panel of experts to learn and ask questions with our radiation oncologist, general surgeon, oncology nurse navigator, imaging & diagnostics, primary care and more. You’ll be able to make your mammogram appointment too! This is a free educational event where lunch is provided. Registration is required. For more information, visit PRRMC’s events page.
During the month, PBRMC will be raising funds for United Cancer Associated Network (UCAN). Donations can be made in the PBRMC Gift Ship. Those who donate, are eligible for a “pink-out” t-shirt (while supplies last) and can be picked up in the hospital gift shop, located near the cafeteria, between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.
