Extraordinary Nurse Recognized at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center
7/18/2023
POPLAR BLUFF, MO – Stephanie Stratton, R.N., of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center was recently honored with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.
The nomination submitted read “[Stephanie] is a phenomenal nurse. While under her care I felt as if I was her top priority at all times. She is genuine, efficient, and caring. She also was not afraid to be the bearer of bad news or tell me what I needed to hear medically even if I didn't want to hear it. She worked closely with the doctors to help find answers for me and even strongly encouraged the neurology route, which ended up being the right answer. I don't feel as if my experience at the hospital would have been what it was without her being my nurse. She is one of a kind and her service was most definitely appreciated.”
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
“We are honored to have a nurse like Stephanie who goes above and beyond and lives our mission every day; providing safe, quality care to our patients,” said Assistant CNO Adam Harrison.
